SYNOPSIS
Machismo encompasses a series of behaviors related to the undervaluation of women in all areas, and it manifests in more or less obvious ways: relegating women to the domestic sphere, physically abusing them, attributing emotional instability to their condition as women, fostering their dependence on men, using menstruation as a tool of blame, judging them based on their ability or inability to have children, sexualizing them to the extreme and creating a social obsession with their image… Fortunately, things are changing, but much remains to be done. Women, with their fight and bravery, have managed to carve out a path and reclaim rights that were stolen from them, placing us in a situation of apparent “almost equality” that we find ourselves in today. However, that “almost” is the burden we still need to overcome as a society. Why is a program like “Women and the Days” necessary? Because what is said there, the topics discussed, are obvious truths. Obvious truths that have been historically hidden, silenced, buried in a sea of machismo, taboos, social pressures, and personal shame. These truths must be brought to light in order to continue advancing toward real equality. In “Women and the Days,” the voices belong to them.
