SYNOPSIS
Two years ago, TV3 is preparing a documentary about Juan Carlos Unzué’s fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). A team from the Sports department, made up of Xavi Torres, Santi Padró, Jesús Muñoz, Carles Comajuncoses and Marta Colàs, has been monitoring his day-to-day since June 18, 2020, when the former FC Barcelona coach make public that he suffered from the disease. That day Juan Carlos changed the meaning of his life and focused it on two major goals: to give maximum visibility to this minority disease and, above all, to manage to collect the largest possible amount of money to dedicate to research of an almost invisible disease that currently has a life expectancy of between four and six years.
In the documentary we see the evolution of the disease in the Unzué-Elorza family, privileged witnesses appear who accompany Juan Carlos in his day to day life and portrays his particular struggle to try to overcome the adversities that he has to live with with an illness that has changed his life. You can see how Juan Carlos had to leave his job and change his house, a single-family house with three floors for another one with a single floor, and how he has abandoned the practice of two of his great passions: he has changed the road bike for the wheelchair and the car steering wheel for the co-pilot seat.
And he has made these resignations without ever losing the characteristic smile that always accompanies him. An exceptional life lesson.
