SYNOPSIS
Water, with its healing properties for both body and spirit, played a pivotal role in the sacred site of San Casciano dei Bagni, serving as a place of pilgrimage and a symbol of tranquility. For over seven centuries, from the 3rd century B.C. to the 5th century A.D., this location stood as an inviolable dwelling, witnessing the harmonious coexistence between the Etruscans and Romans.
Recently, from 2020 to 2022, the sanctuary’s central feature, the sacred basin, has been the source of remarkable discoveries. More than 200 bronze artifacts and over 5,000 coins have been unearthed, shedding light on the past and presenting us with a vivid picture of an era that, despite its apparent distance from our present, still resonates with lessons of well-being, openness, and devotion.
